The 90 Day Challenge

Today I started my Body by Vi 90 Day Challenge!

Now, generally I try to stay away from fad diets. I have tried many of them and they work for a short period of time, but I just can't seem to stick with them.

I don't see this as a fad diet, I just see it as a challenge! It consists of two protein shake meals a day, and one healthy balanced meal with healthy snacks in between. I already have a protein shake for breakfast every morning, so that stays the same, but I am also going to have one for lunch. I am excited about this because I am always scrambling to find something for lunch, and this will be easy and healthy!

The shake mix is a sweet cream flavour, so you can mix it with pretty much anything. This morning for breakfast I mixed it with a cup of frozen raspberries and a cup of skim milk for "Raspberries & Cream", and for supper tonight I plan on having a Peanut Butter Cup shake! I will mix a bit of chocolate frozen yogurt, 2 tsp peanut butter, the chocolate mix in, 2 scoops shake mix and a cup of skim milk. (I had lunch at the in-laws which is why I am having it for supper).

My goal in the 90 days is to loose 25 lbs and exercise 45 minutes 5 days a week regularly.

If you would like to join me you can visit http://lintc.myvi.net/ for more information.

The shakes are not just for weight loss. One a day helps maintain a healthy weight, and mixed with water or skim milk after a work out is a great way to help build healthy lean muscle. ViSalus also has vitamins, metabolism boosters, and natural energy drinks, and protein cookies. I like that they try to focus on healthy, natural products!

Another great thing about these shakes is that they are Low GI, so they are perfect for my diet to help control PCOS. I have been of the wagon for over a month now, and I am excited to get back on!

The Opportunity

I guess enough time has passed and in all likelihood this will not be happening that I can talk openly about it.

A week ago a very good friend called me with the craziest question. There was a 2 month old baby girl that needed a home. The mother was young, and she had found an adoptive family but it didn't work out. She really wanted to choose the family herself, so her friends were helping her look for one and one of them called my friend's mom who immediately thought of us. ( I know, the friend of a friend of a friend thing is weird) They know we are struggling to conceive and they wanted to know if we wanted to adopt her.

This was right before a soccer game. I could hardly focus on the game. I wanted to say yes, but I was nervous that Eric was going to say no. Right after the game we talked and we both agreed that yes, we would pass on our contact info to the birth-mom.

And for the last week it has been a waiting game, with no phone call. I am pretty certain that if she wanted to call, she would have by now. My hopes are pretty low that this will turn into anything exciting.

It would be a lie to say that I am not disappointed. I am of course. But this kind of stuff doesn't happen to people. You don't just get a phone call from someone asking if you want a tiny baby and then it all works out. That is just way too easy. People wait years and years in this province to adopt a baby! What makes me think I could adopt one just like that without the long wait? And I am not totally crushed she didn't call because it all just seemed too good to be true. And when something seems too good to be true it usually is.

But the thing that I am still confused about is, why? Why would God present such an incredible opportunity only for it to turn out to be nothing? Wouldn't it have been better off for me to just not know about this whole situation? Don't you think it would have been easier for me to just go on living my infertile life without knowing there was a sweet baby child in need of a family?

There are just some things we are just not meant to understand in this world.

I must admit it was fun for a day or two when I thought of the possibility of being a mother. It was fun researching products I needed and dreaming of all the dresses I was going to sew her and thinking about nursery plans.

Now that I think about it, I am a little more crushed than I lead myself to believe. I AM still hoping we will get a phone call. I AM still hoping I can be a mother soon. I AM still dreaming of that sweet baby girl, whom I have never even seen! I want to be her mommy.

BFN and Adoption

I tested yesterday, and it was negative of course. :( So I immediately started progesterone so I can convince AF to visit. My surgery is just over a month away! That is so soon.

Last night Eric and I decided that we wanted to start the adoption process. We would like to adopt from the Ukraine. We would like to adopt from there regardless of whether we have biological children. The only thing that is holding us back is the money. It is around $30,000. But I know that if this is what God wants us to do, He will provide the money.

But that doesn't mean I should just expect it to appear in my account! I plan to work for it. I know I am raffling off a quilt for youth but I would like to do one for our adoption as well, and maybe having a fund raising supper. If you have any great ideas they would be much appreciated! I am also going to add a PayPal donate button to my sidebar. Maybe that is tacky? I dunno how to do this! I just know that we can't do this without help!

Right now we are trying to get $550 together so we can send in our application. After we do that we can start working on our profiles and getting a homestudy set up! Eeeek! Even just posting this on here is making it more real! Scary, but exciting.
