A Failure

Back in January I posted that we were going back to Heartland.

We were surprised how fast we got in, and even more surprised how fast they got us in for a cycle. Everything seems to be going smoothly.

At our appt. the Doc went over IUI and IVF info, and was kind of trying to steer us towards IVF. We opted for IUI because it worked on the first try last time, surely it would work like that again.

Well, not so much. I did about 13 days of injects, wasted 1000's of dollars and our cycle got cancelled. My body didn't respond to the meds at all. For Tallet I had 3 follicles that grew, this time I had nothing.

We were fairly laid back about this cycle, assuming it would work but knowing in the back of our minds that we got incredibly lucky the first time.

I was crushed. It was so much harder than I expected to have a failure. It is unreal how all the old feelings crop back up again. Infertility sucks, and the suckyness doesn't go away after you have one babe.

This will be a struggle for the rest of our family growing years, and that is hard to accept. Friends around me continue to get pregnant with the greatest of ease. I thought it would be easier to deal with once I had a child of my own. But it isn't.

Not Only My Own

I have had so much fun telling people about our pregnancy. I could not wait to share it, but I had to wait a couple days for the blood results to confirm the home tests.

I am mostly excited to share because there has been SO MANY people praying for us. I just wanted everyone to know that their prayers have been answered, and to thank them so much for praying for us. This joy is not just our own, it is the joy of all of our friends and family that have supported us with prayers and encouragement. God has truly blessed us in so many ways.

It was also fun to talk to the Heartland nurses about it. They were almost as exited as me! They were so happy to see an IUI work, and happy for me that I didn't have to go to IVF.

Tomorrow I will be 5 weeks.  The nurse told me I am due on October 16th. I have an ultrasound on February 23rd, to hopefully see a heartbeat and to see if there is more then one baby in there. Eric and I have a feeling there might be more than one.

Thanks you to everyone for all your prayers and support! We would still greatly appreciate your prayers as we start this new, very exciting phase in our life!

Because Of Your Prayers....

.... I got to see this on Tuesday morning.

And on Thursday afternoon I had beta HCG results of 415!

I think I am still in shock. I can't believe the IUI worked on the first try.

It kinda reminds me of one of the time Peter was in jail. The church prayed and prayed and prayed for him to be released, and when he showed up on their doorstep they didn't believe it was him!
I kinda feel like that.  So many people have prayed for this, so why I am I having such a hard time believing it!

I feel so incredible blessed, humbled and thankful. God is SO good. His timing is perfect. His plans are better than ours. Praise God for being so amazing to us.

First IUI Appointment!

We had our consent signing/injection training today at Heartland. It went great and I am excited to get started!

I am not going to lie, I am very nervous about starting injectables. It just seems like such a giant step from what we have done in the past. Unknown territory. And at the same time I am excited to move on.

Right now I am on BC pills until January 4th. Then when AF arrives I start Suprefact injections for 4 days. Then on the third day of Suprefact I also start 150mg injections of Gonal-F. I will do this for 6 days then I got for some bloodwork and an ultrasound to see how I am progressing and then they will adjust from there.

Another Call

Heartland called today, and it turns out we are on the top of the IVF list and can do one in February if we want! WOW! So unexpected!

They did see that we are doing an IUI in January, so the nurse said we can try as many of those as we want and when we are done we can move straight to IVF because we will be kept on the top of that list.

I can't even express how excited I am about that. No more months and months of waiting for a new procedure.  It is hard to believe our luck, or should I say blessing.

Now don't get me wrong, I am praying hard that we won't have to do more than one IUI!

Even More IUI Stuff!

First thing this morning I got the call from one of the nurses from Heartland. I was so pumped to finally talk to her. I decided to do injectable stimulation because it has a high success rate. This means we will be cycling with the IVFers. And if I get over stimulated, then we can switch to IVF if we want, which we will probably do.

Then she asked if we would be interested in IVF in the future if needed. I said yes, so she put us on the IVF list as of the day we paid, so June 10th, 2011. Which is TOTALLY AWESOME! Usually the wait list is 8-12 months so it is awesome we got a head start. And we don't have to pay an additional sign up fee to get on the list. So this means that if we need to go to IVF, we won't have the long wait time.

She is sending out my forms and a prescription for the pill just incase I need to go on it. She said I would start my cycle around January 4th with insemination day around the week of the 23rd.

I am so glad to finally have some plans. I feel like this is finally going somewhere. That finally everything is falling into place.

Did I mention the nurse I spoke to was SUPER nice!

I am so thankful to God for the hope He continually gives. Please pray for us as we continue on this exciting journey!

More Exciting Phone Calls!

I called Heartland again today to leave my work number. They didn't call me back at work, but they did call Eric at home. They told him we would be in the January cycle. We have a appointment on December 7th to sign some forms and do some IUI training. I also have to let them know which CD I am on, and depending on that I might have to go one birth control pills to get my cycle to the right date. I am not excited about going on the pill again, but I know it is different this time around.

The nurse said we have to decide whether we want to do oral or injectable meds. I am leaning towards injectable because I know they're more effective and I don't want to waste time. They are more expensive, but I am pretty sure our heath care plan will cover it!

The nurse is supposed to call me at work tomorrow with more details. I can't wait!

10 in 10

So, I got some new info from some messages boards. Heartland does IUI cycles the same time they do IVF cycles and we missed the October one. :(

Apparently the next one is December/January so hopefully we will be part of that one.

In one way this is a good thing, it gives me all of November for my 10 in 10 campaign! I would like to have at least 10 Partylite shows in November, with $10,000 in sales. With 25% commission, that will give me $2500 for our first IUI.

So if you or anyone else you know wants to have a party, PLEASE let me know. I can also do an unlimited amount of book parties! If you don't want to have a party, every order helps! There is a really good sale going on for all of November so I can send all the info to anyone interested!
