A Little Secret

I have a secret. I have been working out for the last week. I didn't want to post about it right away because I didn't want to commit and fail. Which is exactly what I did last week.

Two weeks ago I went looking for the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred but I couldn't find it, so I bought Ripped in 30 instead. Last week I did two days and then got side tracked. This week I have went to bed early every night so I could wake up at 620 to do my workouts. So far I have done it all 4 days and I plan to do it tomorrow morning and before church on Sunday. Monday will be my rest day.

I really like the work out. I needed something that was 30 minutes long, because I simply cannot wake up before 6 on a workday. The workout is a great length and it is challenging, exactly what I want.

I am excited/nervous to do week 2. Apparently the workouts keep getting harder as you go!

The best part so far is that I already feel stronger!

I REALLY REALLY REALLY want to keep this up. I love having my workout done at the beginning of the day. Knowing me, I will drop off this routine after 2 or 3 weeks, but I really don't want to do that this time. I want to stick with it and make this a habit!

Wednesday Pins - Building My Own Furniture

The other day Eric and I went browsing for furniture for our new place. Ideally I would like a couch and chair, bedroom furniture and a new kitchen table. I was really discouraged while looking. It was easy for me to find a couch and chair I liked, but I did not like any of the kitchen tables I saw. The one I did like was close to $2000, and that was just for the table not including the chairs! Same went for the bedroom furniture, I couldn't really find anything I liked and the one thing I did was $4000 for the set.

So a yesterday I decided that I could probably make the kitchen table I wanted myself. And today I started googling where I found Ana White's website of DIY furniture. And there it was, the perfect farmhouse table. And it looks ridiculously easy. There was also some "brag" posts of people who have made that table from Ana's pattern. One woman made a gorgeous table and it was her first thing she had ever built! EVER! And she said it was very simple. So if she can do it, so can I!

Here is the table. This is one made by a reader. The one I would like to make will look different than this one, but is is the same basic idea and shape. If you click on the picture it will take you to the Ana White site.

So after realizing how easy it would be for me to make my own table, I thought, why not make my own bedroom furniture! That way I can make it the way that I want and stain it how I would like.

So these are the patterns I found from Ana White. I would like to make two end tables and one dresser. They are a bit of a different style but I plan on using the same white wash stain on them!

Still not sure what to do about chairs for the table yet. I kinda like these but I would do a different fabric for sure!

Chai

Today my sweet, old horse Chai passed away. He was such a good boy. I rescued him from the meat truck 3 years ago for company for my other horse. He turned out to be perfectly rideable and calm. Anyone could ride Chai. I will miss him so much, but I am glad he is set free from his pain.

Autumn Bowie Awards

These past few weeks I have been consumed with planning our 1st Annual Autumn Bowie Awards! It has been a very fun project! It was inspired by the Bowie awards that our friends in Seattle put on. We never do anything fun like this, and we don't really have any other excuse to throw a fancy party. It is a formal event, I plan on wearing my wedding dress. Most other girls are wearing their grad dresses, and I would too if it fit. Maybe next year.

Here is a sample of the letter we sent out:

Congratulations! You have been invited to the prestigious 1st Annual Autumn Bowie Awards. The ABAs are awards of excellence and awesomeness. It is also a fundraising gala for BCBC. We have included a list of categories and the guest list. Each person must select one guest to nominate for each category. You may choose the same guest more than once.

Kaffe Haus

This evening we went to a 1st anniversary party for our friend M who owns a specialty coffee shop in Gimli. It was a fun night full of snacks and yummy cake! I wish I would have taken a picture of the cake. It was pretty cool!

I am making a Facebook page for him, so check our Kaffe Haus on FB and like it! There will be daily updates with the specials and the drink of the day. I love that place, the food is SO good and the drinks are awesome. Especially the soy chai latte!!

Fun Day

We went to the city today, mostly for fun but we had a few things to get done.

I now work Tuesday-Saturday so I have Mondays off.

First I got my Rabies vaccination. It was tucked away on the 5th floor of a research building. I felt like I wasn't supposed to be there! I found the right place and now I am finally up to date.

Afterwards we went to the mall to do some shopping for ourselves for our party on Saturday. Then we went to party stuff and booked some table linens, glasses and a red carpet for Saturday. We also got a few decorations, but I have most of them here already.

Then we went furniture shopping browsing. I love looking at furniture. We would like a few new pieces when we move in winter, so we kind of were taking a look to see what there was. It was actually pretty hard to find something I liked. Couches and recliners are easy enough. But I only saw on kitchen table and one bedroom set that I even remotely liked. This is going to be a challenge when we have to do it for real. But at least we have an idea of where to go and what we like.

Then it was off the the Fall Parade Of Homes! It was so fun going into all the brand new homes and check out the cool features. My favourite place was by Artista Homes. It had red brick and raw beams inside. My other favourite features were double doors to the master bedroom, walkout basement, fireplace is the master bedroom that was two sided into the bathroom and the COOLEST kids playroom. It was like those little rooms people have under the stairs but this was under a sunken sitting room and was huge. I need one of those for my kids one day. It was fun to dream, but most of those houses are 500k +

We topped it off with a supper at Boston Pizza. It was a fun day, but the best part of all is that is was spend with my best friend!

Tummy Update

I got frustrated and went back to my naturopath.

I don't think I am lactose intolerant. It seemed to help me for a few days to avoid milk and take the Lactaid. But it did not help completely. So if I am truly lactose intolerant, there is more than just that causing my tummy troubles.

My naturopath out me on Candicin to help with a possible candidia yeast overgrowth. Ever since I started taking those herbs, my stomach has felt WAY better.

I would also like to start the low GI diet hardcore again. Luckily my shakes are low GI, but I have not been eating low GI with my other meals and snacks. I need to start eating more veggies. I have been slacking in that area as well lately.

I am just so exhausted with these stomach issues. I need them to stop. I need to feel normal again!

BIG Change!

When I get bored, I change the colour of my hair. So that is what I did!
It is shocking, I know.

I love it.

But I am not used to it quite yet. And I am thinking it will take a few days before I start recognizing myself in the mirror again!

I never planned to go quite this light, it kinda just happened.

More Waiting

Auntie F unpacked her bags today, which means yet another month of waiting.

I am SO SO SO thankful that everything is working naturally and that my body is working the way it was designed to. But I am also confused. If I am ovulating, all my tests are normal (MRI, HSG, U/S, Surgery) and Eric's tests are normal, why can't we conceive a baby on our own.

I feel like a piece of the puzzle is missing. Like there is something else wrong that hasn't been found yet.

This next cycle will hopefully be our last one before we get the call from Heartland. One last try to get it right on our own before I pumped my self full of drugs and we go into more debt.

I do know this will all be worth it in the end. But when you are smack dab in the middle it is really hard to visualize that as a reality.

Full Day

Today was a full day. Work was very busy today, but it was kinda fun at the same time. Today we took a hideous lump off my Golden, Dixie. It is more than likely cancer, but hopefully not the type that spreads. We will see for sure in a few days. I have her for a few days at my house to bandage up her legs and give her meds.

After work I had a massage therapy appointment and then a Body by Vi Challenge party in Gimi. It was a lot of fun, and a couple girls are very excited to start the challenge!!

After that party I went to meet Eric at our friend M's house where he was playing poker. They were just starting a game of monopoly so I joined in.

After we were done there I went back to work to walk Dixie and now we are on our way home!
