Milk Mustaches

I tried feeding my babies milk for the first time today. They were not too excited, and the much prefer mom's food. But they are so many of them that I need to start supplementing because Paris will not be able to keep up!

Cuddling and sleeping in my hand:

Naturopath

Yesterday I booked an appointment at the local Naturopathic clinic. I have been feeling really fatigued lately, all my bloodwork came back normal, and so my doctor just thinks it's stress. And it very well could be, I am a busy lady, and I don't often get as much sleep as I should. I really like the idea of natural medicine, and I am hoping she can offer some relief for me! I just can't be tired like this all the time. I like that she will look at my whole health history, not just one or two symptoms.

I have been interested in naturopathic medicine ever since I read the book The Infertility Cure. I am a bit skeptical, but at this point I am excited to try anything to not be so tired anymore! I will let you know how the appointment goes next week!

Turkey Tuesday - Eric's Spicy Turkey

This is a recipe that my husband Eric invented, and I just love it. I say recipe, but really we just throw a bunch of ingredients together and never really measure, so these are approximate. I may have to come back and alter this after Eric reads it, because he usually makes it!

1. Put 1 or 2 turkey breasts in the slowcooker on low for 8 hours. We put in water, pepper, salt, and franks red hot. You can add whatever you like!

2. Cut/tear slow cooked turkey small pieces. Place in large skillet and add:
-1 or 2 onions cut in strips
-2-4 garlic cloves, pressed or diced
-1/4 cup worchesteshire sauce
-1/2 cup soya sauce
-1 or 2 bay leaves
-crushed chillis to taste. We like to add lots!
-fresh ground pepper to taste
-enough water to cover ingredients in sauce pan 3/4 of the way.

Bring to boil and simmer for at least 30 minutes on medium heat. Allow some of the liquid to evapourate out, but there should still be a sauce.

Serve over rice or quinoa.

Hockey Tournament!

Today I played my first hockey tournament with my team! It was in Fisher Branch. It was pushed back and hour because the road were really bad. We made it there quite a bit late, and two teams didn't show up. We ended up playing 3 1/2 games. We played each team once, and lost twice and tied. Because one team left early, we played the team we tied back to back, but decided just to play half a game because we just played them. They beat us in a shootout to move on to the final game.

I had a lot of fun. I really enjoy playing with those ladies. We will probably have one last game on Thursday and that will be it for the season. I am looking forward to playing next year!

Curling

This evening I have been totally enthralled in the Tim Horton's Brier. Manitoba was playing Newfoundland & Labrador, and they JUST won and made it to the finals! Yay!

I don't watch curling very often, but when I do I get so sucked into the game I just have to watch it all. Maybe it is because I played quite a bit when I was younger, and I understand how it works! I am not, however, tempted to start playing again. I was never very good.

I might just have to watch the final game on Sunday!

Sweet Babies

I just love puppies. They are so sweet and innocent at this age. They are so cute to watch sleep, twitching and squeaking. I love that they fall asleep in your hands, like this:

That is just the cutest thing ever! He was fast asleep.

I really try to drink this in. They grow so fast. Soon enough they will be terrorizing my house!

Turkey Tuesday - Honey Mustard Turkey

This was originally a recipe for chicken, but I modified with a longer cooking time to adjust for the turkey! I usually double this recipe, especially for the sauce!

1 Turkey Breast cut into strips or cubes
1/3 cup Butter or Margarine, melted
1/3 cup Honey
2 Tbsp Mustard
1 Tsp Salt
1 Tsp Curry powder ( I usually don't like curry, but it isn't strong in this dish and it is a little bland without it!

Preheat oven to 350. Mix all ingredients for sauce together. Pour over cut up turkey in baking dish. There should be enough sauce to cover all the turkey. If not, I would make another batch of sauce. Cover baking dish with tinfoil. Bake for 2 hours or until turkey is cooked through and tender.

It is important that the turkey is cooked through AND tender. We tried it once just cooked through, and it tasted odd. We put it back in the oven for an extra hour and it was delish!

Serve over rice and with some veggies or a salad!

Groupon

OK! So I joined Groupon too! Click here to join too! Today's deal is $10 for $20 at The Pancake House!

I am just so pumped about these sites!

TeamBuy.Ca

A few weeks ago I heard of TeamBuy.ca on the radio. It is a site that offers local deals for 50-90% off! I think they have new deals every 2 days ( I wish it was everyday). The other day I bought 3 bowling passes and shoe rental for $6, regular price $18! Today I bought 1 dozen mini cupcakes from The Cupcake Barista on Corydon for $7, regular $14.

You can also view the past buys, and vote on whether you would like to see them again or not! I missed some really good deals, like $10 for $20 worth of food and drink from Carlos and Murphy's, one of our favorite places to eat on Osborne! Or $15 for $30 at Hu's Asian Bistro. I mean, we would go there anyways, so why not pay half price!

I love the idea of this site. The business gets advertising and more people coming through, and we get a good deal. Sometimes it could be expensive to go out in the city, but TeamBuy makes it a lot more affordable!

They also have deals on spa packages and health/beauty stuff.... I can't wait for a good one!

Baby Chis!

Last night my Chihuahua Paris had her babies! There are 4 girls and 2 boys. I thought she was done at 12:30 last night when she had five, but when I woke up in the morning there was one more! She has never had six before! It is quite a bit for a Chihuahua.

We had a bit of a scare this evening. She was shivering, the babies were crying a lot and she puked. So I called my friend/coworker who is a vet and she was gracious enough to meet me at the clinic. We took some x rays and ran some blood. Everything came back normal, which is good. She had a heating pad in her kennel on the way to the clinic, and the babies seem to quiet down with it. She stopped shivering when we were at the clinic. I think her and the puppies were just cold! I have the heating pad with them in there now and they are pretty content.

New Hair

I have not had my hair cut for over 6 months, and I could tell. Not only did it look bad, but it also tangled, and I mean rats nest tangled, very easily. So today I went to get it cut and dyed! I really love the way it turned out. Plus being at the hairdresser for 3 hours is very relaxing!

BFN and Adoption

I tested yesterday, and it was negative of course. :( So I immediately started progesterone so I can convince AF to visit. My surgery is just over a month away! That is so soon.

Last night Eric and I decided that we wanted to start the adoption process. We would like to adopt from the Ukraine. We would like to adopt from there regardless of whether we have biological children. The only thing that is holding us back is the money. It is around $30,000. But I know that if this is what God wants us to do, He will provide the money.

But that doesn't mean I should just expect it to appear in my account! I plan to work for it. I know I am raffling off a quilt for youth but I would like to do one for our adoption as well, and maybe having a fund raising supper. If you have any great ideas they would be much appreciated! I am also going to add a PayPal donate button to my sidebar. Maybe that is tacky? I dunno how to do this! I just know that we can't do this without help!

Right now we are trying to get $550 together so we can send in our application. After we do that we can start working on our profiles and getting a homestudy set up! Eeeek! Even just posting this on here is making it more real! Scary, but exciting.

Chatty's Puppies

A few weeks ago I posted an ultrasound from Chatty and a few of you wanted to see pictures! She had her puppies on February 24th. There are 3 boys and 1 girl, the girl is the almost all white one! Hopefully I will be able to get more pictures of them when they are older!

Infertile Dreams And Other Things

I haven't talked much about infertility much on here lately. And it is not because it is at the back of my mind! I still think about it all the time, but we haven't been on any meds this month, so there is nothing much to say. And I feel like God has given me an incredible peace about it, which is a huge answer to prayer. Thank you all who have been praying for us!

We have been praying for a natural miracle this month. It is finally the end of the cycle, but I haven't tested yet. I had a positive ovulation test this month, but that just test LH which is known to be high in women with PCOS, so it could mean nothing. AF is late, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything because she hasn't shown up without medication for years! I think I will wait a few more days at least, cause I don't want to waste an expensive test! And I don't want to get my hopes too high.

Last night I had a dream that I took two pregnancy tests, and they both came up positive right away! The dream felt so real, I can remember the happiness I felt in the dream like it really happened. Dreams like that are so cruel for infertiles. That is another reason I don't want to test yet. I feel like because it was positive in the dream, it will probably be negative in real life. BUT I know that is silly to think that way!

In other news, TurboFire is going awesome! I haven't missed a day of the schedule yet! Today was my favorite workout so far. It was hard, but a lot of fun. My heart rate monitor said I burned over 1000 calories in an hour!

Today I made beef tenderloin for supper. I have never made it before, but it turned out REALLY good! We also had fresh avocado for a side dish, and it was amazing. I really enjoy avocados! I can't believe I hadn't really eaten them before this. Man, I have been missing out!

Turkey Tuesday - Maple Turkey Salad

I posted this several years ago, but it is one of my favorite kinds of salad so I wanted to share it again! It is so sweet and yummy, it hardly tastes healthy but it is!

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Salad Ingredients:
-8 oz salad greens, any kind
-3 oz sliced low fat/ low sodium cheddar cheese, cut into matchsticks
-1 medium tomato, cut into wedges
-8 oz cooked turkey breast, cubed, about 2 cups ( I have used deli turkey cut up, as well)
- 3 Tablespoons sunflower seed kernels

Dressing Ingredients"
-3 Tablespoons sugar free maple-flavored syrup
-1/3 cup raspberry vinegar (the best part!)
-3 Tablespoons olive oil
-1/4 teaspoon salt
-1/2 teaspoon dried basil

Layer salad ingredient into salad bowl. Shake together dressing ingredients and pour over. Toss to coat well and serve immediately. Makes 3 main dish servings. (But I could eat it all myself)
